AboutUs
Hello! Here’s the inside scoop on what we do …
SourceTech411 is your Source for Tech Info – lists, reviews and recommendations for gadgets, gizmos and all things tech related. We go in-depth on the tech that you use every day – batteries, cables, cameras, software, home electronics, personal devices just to name a few – and take the guess work out of which is best. Everything we independently select to review is something we want, need, use already. If it’s not good enough for the team at SourceTech411, it’s not good enough for our readers.
Think of us as your own personal advisor for electronics and tech. We take the time to find the best to save you time. Find it, buy it, enjoy it!
Our team take days, weeks or sometimes months to research, test and evaluate the products we write about. We may interview the experts in a product category (like audio or rocketry – we’re good, but not good at everything), gather other reviews and collect data from users to get the best information available. We are looking for the best value that meets the requirements. Often this means the product with the most features doesn’t get our recommendation because the added cost doesn’t reflect the added benefits.
If we wouldn’t be interested in buying a product we review, we think you wouldn’t be either. If it’s something we’d recommend to our family and friends, we’re confident in passing that info along to you.
Thanks for joining us on this journey of tech and gadgets, and thank you for your support of this site.

Why is one product recommended over others?
We are looking for value in our picks and recommendations. Usually this means having all the features needed to get the job done at the best price, and of great quality. Many “top of the line” and “best in class” products come with a steep price premium for all their bells-and-whistles. More often than not, many of these added benefits aren’t what most people need and certainly don’t want to pay for. Many of the lowest priced products don’t have the required quality or reliability. Value is in finding the one that gets you everything you want at the price you’re willing to pay.
What if your requirements aren’t the same as mine?
We get it – ‘best’ of something is an open concept. You may want something a little different from what we are looking for. So we’ll include some alternatives which might be best for you. Three or even five top choices, sometimes out of hundreds (or thousands!) of options is still a lot easier than doing all the research on your own.
Why are there advertisements for Amazon and “Big-Box” Stores?
Our staff is supported through your purchases when using the links, buttons and display advertisements to shop at our affiliate partners. You get the same great prices, we get a commission and our partners get a sale. It’s a winning arrangement for everyone.
Are there sponsored articles or links on this site?
In a word, yes. Occasionally companies come to us to help get exposure for their products or services. We will review their offering to see if it meets with our standards; If it’s something that would be of interest or value to our readers than we’ll publish it on the site. Alternatively, we also put Press Releases from companies on the site for which no payment is accepted; As long as it meets the needs for our audience, we’ll publish regardless of payment.
Is there a conflict getting affiliate commissions for reviews?
We think it motivates us to bring you the most comprehensive product reviews we can, and within those articles are the links to our affiliates. It does bias our writing style to natively include these buy options, but we are not under any obligations in deciding which products make our lists. We do think this is better than setting up pay-walls to read our articles, or to impose endless pop-up advertisements which diminish your experience on the site. It’s always your choice to buy something from the affiliate partner – we only get a commission if you decide to purchase and don’t return an item.
How accurate are the prices listed in reviews?
Regarding any pricing that may be listed: We do our best to get the most recent and correct prices for what anyone would pay going independently to a seller. We don’t take into account special deals, coupons, discount codes, bundling or anything which would affect the regular retail pricing. We also don’t update prices after we publish an article, and we do not employ any automated pricing tools to reflect real time price changes. Basically, the price you see in an article is deemed accurate at the time of publication. Additionally, some of the sellers have their own specific language regarding pricing, and we are including it below for your convenience:
Amazon Prices – “Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on [relevant Amazon Site(s), as applicable] at the time of purchase will apply to the purchase of this product.”
Do you take requests for products or categories to review?
Yes! We always appreciate it when our readers email us suggestions or leave them in the comments sections. Please let us know!
How can readers support the site and staff?
Thanks for asking – here are the full details on how it works. The short answer is when you start from our site to our affiliate partner sites, we earn a commission on the sales. Think of it as a referral bonus the partner pays us for sending your business to them.
