Best 9 Digital Photo Picture Frames Under $50

We searched out and reviewed 9 Digital Picture Photo Frames in the $30 to $50 price range (we can’t really recommend anything under $30). These include 7-inch screens from Sungale, Micca and TENKER; 8-inch screens from Aluratek, Sungale; all the way to a 10-inch screen from Andoer. Resolutions in this price range are SD quality to Full HD (e.g, 800×480 to 800×600 to 1024×600), with either 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio displays.

For a smaller, 7-inch or 8-inch photo display, we don’t think that HD quality is a must-have since you’ll still get a good image viewing experience. Although, our TENKER top pick really pops with their HD LCD screen.

Most of these digital photo frames have no internal memory, but some come with 4GB or 8GB built-in. All of them support up to 32GB SD Memory Cards or USB Flash Drives. Use the links below to get our recommendations on Memory so you can get the maximum photos on your frame. 32GB will get you between 5,000 to 10,000 images depending on what format and file size you took them with.

Let’s get started on the digital frame reviews!

Best Overall: TENKER PF0070, 7-inch

Digital Photo Frame TENKER PF0070 HDThe TENKER PF0070 7-inch (about $40) Digital Photo Frame has an IPS LCD Screen with HD resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, in 16:9 aspect ratio. This is the only digital picture frame we found in this price range with a native high-definition (HD) display.

It comes with a remote control, or you can use the hidden control buttons on the back of the frame. The frame will start automatically when you power it up, and you can use the controls to configure how you want your photos to display.

This frame has internal storage (8GB), and accepts either 32GB SD Memory Card or USB Flash Drive.

The usual jpg, gif and bmp photo file types are supported. No update yet when png support may be available. If you have music on your memory device, you can play photos with background music in the same slideshows.

The auto-rotate function worked well for our testing (e.g., the digital photo frame will adjust your photos automatically for the correct orientation of your photos).

For videos, it supports full 720p and partial 1080p HD playback of all standard file formats e.g., Avi, mov, mp4, 3gp, mpg, vob, mkv).

The built-in speakers had the best sound compared to the others in this list. Along with audio from the videos, you can also play stand-alone music. This frame handles all the formats you would use: mp3, mpeg, aac, wma, ogg, ape, wav.

You can also set the display to be a clock, a calendar or a single background photo.

TENKER is continually improving these products with upgraded firmware to bring out more features. You can check their website for updates if you feel you need even more out of this device. Of course, it comes with the current version of software factory installed, so there is no set-up required to start using this picture frame.

It comes with a 1-year warranty.

Runner-Up: Micca NEO M709A, 7-inch

Digital Photo Frame Micca NEO M709AThe Micca NEO  M709A 7-Inch (about $45) Digital Photo Frame has LCD screen with 800 x 480 resolution, with 16:9 format. The brightness, color and saturation levels are nice and it has excellent viewing angles.

The metal frame is a slim 3mm thick, presenting a modern minimalist appearance. All controls and connections are tucked away in a small pod on the back that doubles as a table top or shelf stand, opening up possibilities to creative placements anywhere in the home or office.

The photo frames from Micca each offer some of the best multi-media experiences and user options for pictures, video and audio. The .jpg photos can be shown in a continuous slideshow set to either random or sequential mode. As best we can tell, this is a “true random” in which no picture is repeated until all others have been played.

The most common video formats including MP4 and MKV videos encoded with H.264 and MPEG4, are supported with resolutions up to 720p.

You can play mp3 files alone or as part of a slideshow. There is a decent speaker as well as a headphone jack.

There is no internal storage, but the frame accepts both SD Memory Cards and USB Flash Memory Sticks, up to 32GB.

Please note: There is a recent firmware update is available for the NEO M709A which fixes some prior reported issues. You can download from Micca’s website, or check the Amazon ordering page for the download link.

Best Price, Largest Screen: Andoer, 10-Inch

Digital Photo Frame Andoer 10 inch LCDThe Andoer 10-inch (about $40) is our least expensive Digital Photo Frame, and it has the largest frame size. Andoer also includes a wireless remote, stereo speakers and an output jack for headphones. All at this low price, which is pretty amazing.

It has a LCD with native resolution of 800 x 600 pixel, with a 4:3 aspect ratio.

You’ll find the standard slide show effects, auto rotation and picture re-formatting to best fit the screen. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to find an option for a random shuffle of the photos.

There is also the option for a static picture to be the background photo or a clock display. The Andoer supports most picture formats, video formats (mp4, mov, avi, etc.) and mp3 for the audio.

There is no internal memory, but Andoer supports memory cards (SD, MMC, MS) USB Flash Drives. The limitation is 32GB of memory.

Sungale PF803, 8-inch

Digital Photo Frame Sungale PF803The Sungale PF803  (about $45) is an 8-inch digital photo frame that has all the standard features and is a nice value at this price. The glossy black frame isn’t too shiny and doesn’t show up finger prints.

The screen is LCD with a native 800 x 600 pixel resolution. The colors are balanced and the brightness is good.

You have settings to control the viewing options – slide shows, transition effects, interval time options, zoom in/out, and photo rotation. You can also pick a single picture to be displayed until you decide to choose another – just like a printed photo frame.

This does not have any internal memory, but does have ports for both SD Memory Card and a USB Flash Drive. It handles up to 32GB of memory, which is a few thousand standard .jpg type pictures.

Sungale DPF710, 7-inch

Digital Photo Frame Sungale DPF710The Sungale DPF710  (about $40) is a simple, 7-inch digital photo frame. It has the basics, and is good for this price.

The TFT LCD screen has good color representation, and will display up to 1024×600 resolution. The 16:9 aspect ratio is standard for these frames.

It has the basic viewing options – including slide shows, transition effects, interval time options, and photo rotation. The rotation worked most of the time, but some pictures weren’t recognized by the frame to auto-rotate.

Also, only .jpg formated pictures are supported (no .gif).

This can also be used as a Clock or Calendar (but you can’t store any meetings / activities on the calendar; it’s view only).

There is no internal memory, so you’ll need to store your pictures on an SD Card or a USB Flash Memory Stick. Up to 32GB is supported.

The DPF710 is a good alternative if the PF803 isn’t available, or if you aren’t a fan of the glossy frame.

Aluratek ADMPF108F, 8-inch

Digital Photo Frame Aluratek ADMPF108FThe Aluratek ADMPF108F 8-inch (about $40) Digital Photo Frame has a TFT LCD with 800 x 600 resolution and 4:3 aspect ratio.

This frame has speakers so you can play music or have a sound track for your slideshow, and full multi-media videos. Multiple options are available for displaying pictures in sequential or random, and different transition modes.

We like that it comes with 4GB built-in memory, along with ports for either SD Memory Cards or USB Flash Drives, up to 32GB.

Simplest Operation: Aluratek ADPF08SF, 8-inch

Digital Photo Frame Aluratek ADPF08SFThe Aluratek ADPF08SF 8-inch (about $40) Digital Photo Frame has a TFT LCD screen with 800 x 600 resolution, in 4:3 aspect ratio. The dark wood material is a nice touch, especially compared with many of the plastic versions out there.

This frame has the simplest operation mode, as there are no options. Just insert a SD Memory Card or USB Flash Drive (max 32GB) and connect the power. It will play in slideshow mode until you remove the power or the memory. If you have any music files loaded on your SD card / USB Drive, they will also begin to play during your slideshow viewing.

We like that there is absolutely nothing you need to do with this frame to view your slideshow – no setup, no configuration, no options to choose from.

On that theme, there is no remote control to lose; No touch-screen, so you don’t have to wipe off fingerprints; No batteries to change in the frame.

This frame is our top choice for anyone that simply wants to see their photos.

Energy Saver: Micca M707z, 7-inch

Digital Photo Frame Micca NZ707 7-InchThe Micca M707z 7-Inch (about $50) Digital Photo Frame is the nicest frame, made from a brushed aluminum front and curved back. The LCD Display is a (16:9) Widescreen with 800 x 480 pixels resolution. And it comes with a wireless remote to control everything.

We like that there is an set-able timer for when the device comes on in the morning and turns off in the evening. It’s already one of the lowest power consumption digital frames, using around 7 Watts over 10 hours. This is about one cent ($0.01) of electricity a day, or about what an LED light-bulb would use.

Unfortunately, this was also the most expensive on our list.

You get a full multimedia experience with the Micca M707z. You have full control over your photos (jpg only)  and how you want them displayed – in random or sequential order, cropped or framed format, plus a selection of transition styles to help you dial in the perfect visual effect.

In addition to photos, the M707z also plays videos (avi, mp4, mpeg1/2/4 video) and music (mp3 up to 320kb/s) through built-in stereo speakers or the headphone jack.

There is no internal storage, so you’ll need to put your files on  either a USB Flash Drive or a SD Memory Card. It will work with up to 32GB devices.
