Three Key Features Of Cloud Computing Services

Cloud As A Service
Cloud As A Service

Cloud computing is a type of computing which relies on sharing computing resources rather than having personal devices or local servers to handle applications.

Users only pay for the services based on the amount of computing and storage resources which are used. It is often referred to as “the cloud” since because the actual physical devices are located in a different place from the user, and the services are delivered by way of on-demand computing resources.

1. Features of Cloud Computing:
Measurable service: cloud systems automatically control as well as optimize necessary resources depending on need of users and the required type of services. All these type of services are measurable and their usage is transparent both for the provider and clients.
Standardized interfaces: cloud services should have standardized APIs which provide the interface for how two applications or data sources can communicate with each other.

2. Different Models of Cloud Computing:
Public Cloud: These are owned as well as operated by organizations that use them to offer rapid access to affordable computing resources to other organizations or entities.
Private Cloud: A private cloud is owned as well as run by a single company that controls the way virtualized resources and automated services are customized and used by various lines of business and constituent groups.

Hybrid Cloud: it uses private cloud foundation combined with strategic use of public cloud services.

3. Services of Cloud Computing:

1.Software as a Service (SAAS): It is a software distribution model in which applications are hosted by a service provider and made available to customers over the network via internet. It is related to application service provider and on demand computing software delivery models.

Advantages of SAAS:

  • Easier Administration
  • Automatic updates and patch management
  • Compatibility: in this all the users will have the same version of software.

2.Platform as a service (PaaS): the Platform as a Service provides as a cloud based environment with everything to require supporting the complete life cycle of building and delivering web based applications. It is form of cloud computing services which is most useful for business customers for technological industries.
Advantages of PAAS:

  • Cost savings
  • Reduced technical maintenance
  • Increased mobility

3.Infrastructure as aSservice (IaaS): it provides companies with computing resources including servers, networking, storage and data center space on a pay per basis.
Advantages of IaaS:

  • Hassle Free Service: in this each infrastructure component is provided as a service. e.g. Hardware as service, server as service, computing as service. It adds lots of flexibility to anyone looking for only specified services.
  • Flexible Offering: one can access infrastructure from anywhere, any location on the device.

Some of the most often used applications of Cloud Computing:
1.Dropbox: A cloud computing application that can be used for storing files and folders across the internet.
2.Basecamp: This is special tool developed for Project Management. In this one can share files, tracking of time and messaging are some of the functions are enabled in this application.
3.Campfire: It is an online service planned for businessman.
4.Highrise: It is a CRM application which comes to users via Internet. In this the contacts as well as images can be assembled with this cloud application.
5.Evernote: A note taking application that allows the users to make notes in form of scripts, pictures, webpages and voice recordings.
